Privacy Policy

This policy explains what paidwell.com (“paidwell,” “we,” “us”) collects, why, and what you can do about it. Short version: checking your pay is private, sharing your salary is optional and anonymous, and we don’t sell personal information.

1. Checking your pay

When you use the salary check, your role, city, years of experience, and salary are sent to our server to calculate your result and are then discarded, unless you choose to share them (section 2) or buy a report (section 3a). We do keep anonymous running counts of which job titles and cities get checked, and of job-title searches that found no match, so we know what to improve. Those counts never include your salary and aren’t linked to you or to each other. We do not save them, and they are not linked to you.

2. Salary contributions (optional)

If you choose “Add anonymously,” we store: your role, city, years of experience, base salary, the company name if you enter one, and the date. We do not store your name, email address, or IP address with a contribution. To limit spam, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address (salted daily, so it can’t be reversed or matched across days) for up to 24 hours.

Contributions are combined with other data to produce statistics. We never publish an individual contribution in a way meant to identify the person who made it, and we only show statistics for a group once it has enough entries. If you add a small or unusual company name, keep in mind that a rare combination of details could make an entry easier to guess; leave the company blank if that’s a concern.

Because contributions are anonymous, we can’t reliably find “your” entry later. If you want one removed, email us the role, city, salary, and approximate date and we’ll remove matching entries.

3. Domain or acquisition inquiries

If you submit an offer on our acquisition page, we collect the name, email, phone number (optional), message, and amount you enter, and use them only to evaluate and respond to your offer.

3a. Buying a report

Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. When you buy a report, the job title, city, years of experience, and salary you entered are saved with your order at Stripe so your report can be generated, along with the email address you give at checkout. We use that email only to send your report link and receipts, and for support.

4. Sharing your result

Share links and share images contain your percentile, role, and city, never your salary.

5. Service providers

We use a small number of providers to run the site: Vercel (hosting; its standard request logs include IP addresses and are retained under Vercel’s policies), Upstash (database), Resend (email), and Stripe (payments). They process data on our behalf and not for their own purposes.

6. Cookies and tracking

We don’t use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. Stripe may set cookies on its checkout page to process payments and prevent fraud. We count page views (the page, and the address of the page that linked you when your browser shares it, without anything after a “?”) and anonymous feature use (for example, how many offers get compared), with no cookies. To estimate daily unique visitors we use a one-way hash of your IP address salted with that day’s date, which can’t be reversed or linked across days; IP addresses themselves aren’t stored. Offers and answers you enter in your report are saved only in your own browser.

7. How we use and share data

• To run the salary check and show results.
• To build and improve aggregated, anonymized pay statistics.
• To offer aggregated statistics or insights to others, including businesses. These never include the personal contact information described in section 3.
• To prevent abuse and comply with law.

We do not sell personal information. If paidwell is sold, merged, or reorganized, the data described here may transfer to the new owner, who must honor this policy for data collected under it.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example California under the CCPA/CPRA, or the EU/UK under GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. Email privacy@paidwell.com and we’ll respond within 30 days. We won’t treat you differently for exercising these rights.

9. Retention and security

Anonymous contributions are kept as long as they’re useful for statistics. Offer details are kept until the inquiry is resolved. We use encrypted connections and access-controlled providers, but no system is perfectly secure.

10. Children

paidwell is not directed to children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
